JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the service manager is the supervision of the day-to-day operations of the service department.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Supervises all Service Department employees.
  2. Reviews and analyzes performance skills and takes corrective action when applicable, including policy adjustments.
  3. Analyzes and market potential for all Service Department services.
  4. Creates and uses specific plans and programs designed to meet sales and profit targets.
  5. Organizes trains and develops all Service Department employees. Maintains all necessary records relating to applicable government health and safety regulations including OSHA and Environmental Safety requirements.
  6. Coordinates and cooperates with other functional and staff managers.
  7. Maintains liaison with Kenworth Truck Co. Service representatives, fleet owners and other important customers.
  8. Supervises repair order/work order systems.


QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information.
High school diploma or the equivalent.
Five years of experience as a heavy duty truck repair technician.
Working knowledge of all heavy truck repair methods.
Sales experience preferred.
Three years supervisory experience.
Excellent communications, supervisory and managerial skills.
Ability to manage and coordinate large department at a profit and according to dealership guidelines.
Professional personal appearance.
Current and clean CDL is preferred



WORKING CONDITIONS

Part of this position is physically demanding. Will lift parts weighing up to 50 lbs. Will stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle and feel. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. Must climb in and out of customer’s vehicles to record information and road drive. The other part of this position will require desk work including use of computer video monitor, telephone, ten-key calculator and completing paper work. Must wear a dealership uniform.
