JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Truck Driver/Shop maintenance is to road test trucks after repairs are completed in shop, road test typically consist of 10-25 miles from dealership; shuttle trucks and trailers around yard, pickup/drop off of customers to hotels; in addition to pick- and delivery of parts and equipment. During down time help maintain the cleanliness of the shop and help techs with assistance in moving vehicles.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintains a current, valid Commercial Driver's License for Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks. Maintains an excellent driving record, and completes all requirements for keeping CDL in good standing including physical exams, drug tests, driver's logbook, etc.
2. Assists the Technicians and Foremen in road testing, pick-delivery of parts and equipment . Coordinates multiple deliveries to minimize expense and time incurred. Carries valid, current evidence of insurance and dealer license plate at all times during deliveries.
3. Assists truck shop with all necessary shop maintenance, minor building repairs, helping move disabled trucks and assisting techs.
4. Assists customers with shuttle ride to hotels.
5. Maintains courteous and continuing relations with port authorities, highway patrol, Departments of Transportation and Motor Vehicles in the course of this employment.
6. Promotes the sale of Company products, parts and service. Facilitates communications between customer and these other departments.
7. Maintains a superior level of knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry in general and Kenworth Trucks in particular. Attends such training courses and seminars as required by service manager.
8. Performs such other tasks as requested by Management from time to time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
High school diploma or the equivalent
Valid Commercial Driver's License with clean driving record
General knowledge of mechanical components of Class 7 and 8 trucks, the requirements for transporting Class 7 & 8 tractors and trucks within and between the different states 
Working knowledge of the federal highway system
Professional personal appearance
Excellent communication and driving skills
