JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Truck Sales Representative is to solicit and assist customers in the ordering and purchasing of trucks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Solicits sales of new and used trucks marketed by the Company to customers located within assigned territories. Maintains market penetration and territory calls as required by District Manager.
- Assists the customer in identifying what model and component will suit his/her needs. Coordinates with Truck Sales Manager on all Truck Sales.
- Creates and submits a written proposal for new truck sales identifying model, component specification, build schedule and cost to customer for acceptance. Coordinates all such bids with Truck Sales Manager and/or Corporate Sales Director to assure accuracy and send copy to DM for approval prior to submission to customer.
- Completes all necessary paperwork for submission of new truck orders to manufacturer. Coordinates ordering process with Sales Coordinator. Coordinates all sales and inventory movement through Sales Point.
- Assists Finance & Insurance department in completing all paperwork necessary for closing of sale, including payment documentation, licensing and titling. Coordinates closing with Finance Manager. Proactively markets our internal F&I offerings as part of all new and used sales deals.
- Assists customer with any problems which may arise in connection with the sale of the equipment. Direct all other inquiries to the correct company personnel and follow up with customer to ensure follow through happened.
- Maintains courteous and continuing relations with customer base and working knowledge of customers’ base industries and equipment needs. Proactively maintains a territory call route to include: follow up, cold calls and general prospecting of new customers.
- Promotes the sale of Company parts and service. Facilitates communications between customer and the other departments.
- Maintains a superior level of knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry in general and Kenworth Trucks in particular. Attends off-site training courses and seminars as required by supervisor. Maintains and keeps current on all online OEM supplied training paths as outlined by supervisor.
- Outside Sales Reports are to be filled out completely and turned in every Friday by 5:00 pm, to the District Manager via email.
- Communicates with Receptionist and branch department managers as to whereabouts.
- Truck Sales Person’s work day shall start and end physically present at the Dealership from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Unless previously communicated to the District Manager.
- All PTO is to be submitted and approved utilizing the Ultipro HR management system prior to taking days off.
- Truck Sales person will maintain all trucks on branch lot; this includes occasional start up and inspecting its overall appearance and condition. Will further coordinate repairs and improvements needed with District Manager.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
The Pocatello District Truck Sales Representative reports directly to the District Manager regarding operations, finance and customers. The Truck Sales Represent will further report to the New/Used truck sales managers on other subjects specific to truck sales while keeping District Manager informed of this communication.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions and information
High school diploma or the equivalent
Broad knowledge of all types of new and used Class 7 and 8 trucks and their components
Familiarity with trucking industry, computer systems, current software and large data bases
Valid Commercial Driver’s License preferred and good driving record required
Professional personal appearance
Excellent communication and supervisory skills
Previous Truck Dealer Sales experience preferred, or at least 5 years of similar industry sales experience
