JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of the Truck Salesperson is to solicit and assist customers in the ordering, purchasing and operation of new and used, medium vehicles.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Solicits sales of new and used trucks and equipment sold by the Company to customers located within assigned territories. Maintains market penetration as required by District Sales Manager and District Manager.
  2. Assists the customer in identifying what model and specifications will suit their needs.
  3. Creates and submits a written proposal for new truck sales identifying model, componentry specification, build schedule and cost to customer for acceptance. Coordinates all bids with Sales Coordinator to assure accuracy.
  4. Completes all necessary paperwork for submission of new truck orders to manufacturer. Coordinates ordering process with District Sales Manager.
  5. Assists Finance & Insurance department in completing all paperwork necessary for closing of sale, including payment documentation, licensing and titling. Coordinates closing with Finance Manager and/or Sales Coordinator.
  6. Assists customer with any problems which may arise in connection with the sales of the equipment.
  7. Maintains courteous and continuing relations with customer base and working knowledge of customers’ base industries and equipment needs.
  8. Promotes the sale of Company parts and service. Facilitates communications between customer and these other departments.
  9. Maintains a superior level of knowledge and expertise in the trucking industry in general and Kenworth Vehicles in particular. Attends such training courses and seminars as directed by Branch Manager and Corporate Sales Director.
  10.  Complies with and cooperates in the implementation of Company policies and procedures including Commission Schedules, Territory Assignment, Sales Floor Duty, Marketing Events, etc.
  11. Such other tasks as requested by the District Sales Manager and District Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or the equivalent
Broad knowledge of all types of new and used Class 5, 6, 7 trucks and their components
Familiarity with trucking industry, computer systems, ten-key calculator and large data bases
Commercial Driver License a plus and good driving record required
