CASH POSTING CLERK JOB SUMMARY

The Cash Posting Clerk is responsible for accurately applying payments to customer accounts and maintaining detailed financial records. This role plays a key part in ensuring the integrity of the accounts receivable process and supports the finance team with various administrative and clerical tasks.
 

CASH POSTING CLERK DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Accurately post deposits and offsets made to a customer's account in a timely manner.
2. Support the Account Services Director with assigned projects and posting duties.
3. Investigate and document unapplied Payment Notices.
4. Reconcile daily cash receipts with bank deposits
5. Communicate with internal departments (e.g., billing, collections) to resolve account issues.
6. Respond to inquiries from customers or internal teams regarding payment status.
7. Maintain organized and up-to-date cash posting files and records.
8. Provide assistance to the Cashier as needed.

 

CASH POSTING CLERK QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or equivalent. Excellent organization and communication skills. Experience in cash posting and accounts receivable or payable desired. Good written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail.


WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves both sedentary and other work. For part of the shift, s/he will work at a desk in an office setting, doing paperwork, typing, filing, and key entry on a Video Display Terminal. For part of the shift, s/he will stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach, moving about the dealership facility to communicate with managers, employees, and customers. S/he will be exposed to noise, dust, exhaust fumes, and a variety of other hazardous and nonhazardous materials. S/he will have to move boxes that are at least 35 lbs.
